📅 July 2026: Western Sydney Drone Airspace Changes
New airspace arrangements came into effect across the Sydney Basin on 9 July 2026 in preparation for Western Sydney International Airport. The changes affect areas around Western Sydney, Bankstown and Camden, meaning some commercial drone operations may now require additional planning or controlled-airspace approval.
Businesses planning drone photography, mapping or inspection work should provide the exact site location and required dates as early as possible. Droneworks.au can assess the proposed operation, identify likely airspace restrictions and advise whether approval lead times may affect the project.
Updated Sydney Basin airspace may affect commercial drone operations across Western Sydney.
